Information: Reputably the oldest pub in Powys and possibly Wales, The Red Lion Inn at Llanafan Fawr has had plenty of time to perfect its service and hospitality. It combines flag-stone charms with warm hospitality, good homecooked food and at least two real ales. It recently won the HTV Pub Of The Year award and is featured in Food Lovers Britain guide. It manages to combine flag-stone floor charms with an extensive home-cooked menu featuring local meats and a delicious Sunday roast. There are always two real ales on tap and landlords, Helen and Alan, guarantee a warm welcome. As all food is fully cooked on the premises, Helen is happy to cater for any special diets, tinkering with recipes to suit the customer. Families are welcomed and the menu reflects this.Opening hours are 11.30 to 3, then 6pm onwards for the bar. Food is served between 12 and 2 and from 6 until 9p.m.
