Gilfach Longhouse and Nature Reserve
Gilfach Longhouse and Nature Reserve
A lovingly restored Welsh longhouse at the centre of a 418 - acre nature reserve, Gilfach has escaped many of the changes in farming of the last 20 years. With a tumbling upland river, sessile oak woodland, meadows and upland moorland, the reserve provides you with the opportunity to explore nature\'s rich diversity.Visit the centre, where you can relax, watch live film of wildlife from the reserve and learn about Gilfach\'s wildlife and history.Entry to the reserve is free throughout the year for general access and walk on the self-guided nature trails. The centre is manned by volunteers and is generally open at weekends and school holidays from Easter to September.Directions: Take A470 from Builth Wells to Rhayader and continue for another 3 miles on the A470 to Llangurig. Follow the brown \'Nature Reserve\' signs to the turning for St Harmon & Panntydwr. The Visitor Centre is 1 mile along this road. Follow the signs for the Centre and the car park.
